Technical
- Assist Project Engineer / Technologist at meetings with Clients to formulate restoration programs
- Be accountable for quality compliance of your projects
- Use the appropriate quality control guidelines and checklists
- Conduct evaluation fieldwork and supervise those assisting you
- Edit specifications; write new specification clauses and sections
- Formulate restoration recommendations and opinions of probable cost
- Coordinate drafting if required
- Conduct some or all of the contract administration tasks during construction
- Write portions of, or complete, evaluation reports
- Attend or chair site meetings during construction; prepare minutes
- Conduct field review during construction
- Coordinate testing during construction
- Be accountable for organization of field notes, budget calculations, and checklists
- Ensure that your work is checked at the appropriate time
- Prepare CAD/BIM design packages
- Gain relevant certifications (e.g. CET, CTech, etc.)
People Development
- Seek a mentor or more senior employees to learn from by asking questions and being curious about RJC and the work
- Act as a mentor for more junior technologists
- Create a development plan for your personal and career growth at RJC and be accountable for self development
- Monitor your development against action plans from performance reviews and be accountable for self development
- Be accountable for technical self-development, including continuing education
- Develop and disseminate special expertise within our existing fields
- Participate and lead technical sessions, lunch and learns, writing articles or thought leadership, etc.
Business
- Better understand how to assess clients, either internal or external needs by learning their business
- Understand how to assess contractor needs
- Practice being responsive to internal and external needs/communications in a professional, timely manner such as maintaining regular contact with designated clients on projects
- Monitor budgets during construction; anticipate potential cost overruns and take action
- Monitor schedules during construction; anticipate potential delays and take action
- Facilitate all project administration (invoice reviews, issuing payments, etc.)
- Seek opportunities to participate in external networking events / conferences / professional development etc.
Leadership
- Complete work independently and with high quality
- Manage the development of more junior technologists as they onboard onto new projects / new teams / etc.
- Gain awareness of RJC’s various areas of specialty expertise (e.g. through networking, shadowing, mentorship, attending internal events, etc.)
- Suggest or develop new approaches to production to improve quality
- Suggest or develop new approaches to internal processes
- Complete available Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trainings and frameworks to be a more diverse leader and contribute to team-specific and RJC-wide goals
- Responsible for understanding, complying and participating in RJC’s HSE Program including completing required training, participating in hazard identification, assessment and control and informing their People Leader of any unsafe acts or conditions
