People Development

  • Provide onboarding, coaching, supervision and mentoring to more junior technologists to develop their skills and achieve their potential
  • Actively works at building relationships to develop a network of internal and external contacts
  • Research and assign training opportunities for BIM team members (suggesting professional conferences to attend for example)
  • Share technical knowledge and answers questions in an encouraging manner
  • Coordinate and host monthly BIM knowledge sessions for the BIM team to disseminate recent tools, changes to standards or other topics as deemed appropriate
  • Cross-team upskilling and best practice sharing – act as a member of the BIM liaison group that develops corporate standards and initiatives
  • Identify and discover meaningful ways to recognize junior team members
  • Undertake external leadership development courses
  • Participate in and lead technical, professional and community organizations

Business

  • Maintain existing client relationships and foster emerging relationships
  • Organize projects and develop work plans to provide superior service to the client
  • Anticipate, identify and meet client needs, readjust priorities and respond to pressing and changing client demands
  • Contribute to setting financial goals for the group and manage production costs
  • Apply knowledge of business principles to meet team goals, achieve financial stability and ensure long term growth with regards to RJC’s organizational strategy
  • Understand and meet the client’s needs and clearly demonstrate to the client that their needs have been met
  • Participate in financial planning within team
  • Remain current on our market – both fees and levels of services by keeping an open dialogue with the business
  • Produce strategic and market-leading business proposal and negotiate competitive and realistic fees
  • Monitor and control job costs
  • Initiate timely invoicing and resolve fee and payment disputes quickly and effectively
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of other building disciplines, systems and approach to modelling in the industry
  • Track scope creep on projects and request additional fees from clients
  • Liaise with other BIM modellers as well as Project Engineer and Designers to complete the work
  • Lead BIM coordination meetings
  • Works with team leads to scope out/bid on/source new projects
  • Seek further development courses and education in business management
  • Oversee construction administration
  • Monitor and control job costs

Leadership

  • Act as a coach for junior team members and dedicate time to development
  • Hold meetings with the team to establish project goals and priorities
  • Prepare and manage the “Project Management Plan” (or similar work plans)
  • Address priorities and resource needs with BIM Leader
  • Maintain regular communication with team members on issues pertinent to the client project
  • Solicit and value others’ input and expertise to help form specific decisions or plans
  • Help other teams in RJC to obtain/ increase work; “cross sell” by understanding all the different service offerings, leveraging your network in RJC or speaking to colleagues about current project work and looking for opportunities to collaborate
  • Actively participate in the recruitment process for new BIM modellers including resume review, interviews and recommendation to Managing Principal
  • Forecasting production levels and associated staffing levels (also at next level)
  • Guide the development of company-wide BIM standards (thinking about development opportunities for senior and intermediate techs)
  • Work closely with STR Technical Group Lead to develop integrated processes
  • Thought leadership / developing innovative solutions to future problems
  • Manage senior technicians on large scale projects
  • Seek opportunities to participate in and lead the BIM liaison group to discuss standards and coordinate with the other offices
  • Complete available Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trainings and frameworks to be a more diverse leader and contribute to team-specific and RJC-wide goals
  • Responsible to make sure hazard assessments are done and organizing safety paperwork for clients
